The first of May is a holiday that is now dedicated to labor and spring in Russia, celebrated in many countries and has different names. At first, May 1 was called International Day, later, in the 1970s, it was called International Workers' Solidarity Day, which was shortened to Labor Day, and since 1992, May Day has been officially called Spring and Labor Day. In Soviet times, colorful demonstrations were held on this day under slogans expressing solidarity with workers around the world. Now May Day is a traditional weekend, which is celebrated in many families. Festive concerts, car rallies and processions are held in the cities.
