August 18, 2023 marks the 90th anniversary of the Day of the USSR Air Fleet (Aviation Day) celebrated for the first time in the Soviet Union.
On August 18, 1933, the first aviation parade was held in Moscow in honor of the Soviet Aviation Day, which was celebrated for the first time.
The date of the holiday has changed several times in history. Now the official date of the holiday is the third Sunday in August (in 2023 it is August 20), but the celebrations begin on the 18th.
The Day of the Russian Air Fleet is celebrated not only by pilots. This is a professional holiday of engineers in this field, air traffic controllers, flight attendants and employees of numerous aviation infrastructure.
